It probably goes without saying that the Surf Hotel is an absolute stunner. Colorado’s mountain towns have their fair share of boutique hotels, but I’d have to say that this one is probably one of my absolute favorites.
Honestly, our stay at the Surf Hotel Buena Vista perfectly showed off how nicely the hotel blended the classic outdoors culture of Colorado and BV with the upscale luxury you’d expect to see in any of the best mountain towns in the Rocky Mountains.
The rooms in the Surf Hotel and Chateau managed to feel warm and modern at the same time. Brushed, aged brass finishes in the bathroom, with marble countertops and subway tile blended the look of old and new so perfectly. And the wraparound community porch gave a very New Orleans-esque feel to the entire building.
The hotel itself is located in the cutest part of Buena Vista, right alongside the Arkansas River and within walking distance of BV’s best coffee shop, the Midland Stop. Park behind the hotel and take a stroll through the cute little town. It’s all right there.
The interior designers of this hotel truly thought of everything. Every corner of the Surf Hotel and Chateau is gorgeous, from the mantle art to the reclaimed wood floors to the brass faucets. No detail went unnoticed.
Within the hotel sits the Wesley and Rose restaurant and bar. I’m not one to get food from a hotel, but I took a chance this time, and I’m so glad I did. Their blackened chicken sandwich was divine. And their cocktails were absolutely delicious too.
Sheena is a Colorado-based photographer who specializes in documenting tiny mountain weddings. She travels all over the state, and during her travels has accumulated a list of her favorite places she’s been to, hence the review. The Surf Hotel BV stood out to her as one of the most gorgeous hotels in the state, so much so that she couldn’t help but write her own review of the place.
Not everyone loves tradition, but that doesn’t make your adventure wedding or elopement any less important.
