You know when you meet certain people and your first thought is, “heck yeah, these are my kind of humans?” Yeah? Well that was literally my first thought the moment Kourtney, Shaney, and I first chatted on the phone about their Breckenridge, Colorado elopement dreams.
Kourtney originally found me through Pinterest and wound up booking me for their adventurous Colorado elopement this upcoming November in Breckenridge, Colorado. When I spoke to the both of them, I could hear the fire in their voices. They were so excited about the idea of planning a Colorado adventure wedding day that truly felt like them. Their rules. Their celebration. Their elopement, their way. Heck yes.
These two were both game for throwing tradition out the window and having a Colorado adventure elopement that really defined who they were as a couple. While these two are from Louisiana, the state of Colorado has a special place in their hearts. They visit frequently, and it’s actually where Shaney proposed to Kourtney. So when Kourtney reached out to me a few weeks ago to see if they could also schedule an adventure engagement session before their November elopement in Breckenridge, I couldn’t have been more excited.
We’ve all spent the past several months going back and forth, chatting about everything from the best shoes to wear during an outdoors Colorado mountain elopement to coordinating timelines, but with Kourtney and Shaney living in Louisiana and me being in Colorado, we hadn’t had the chance to meet in person yet.
One of the amazing things about having an adventure session before your elopement is not just having pretty photos of the two of you hanging out in the mountains in non-wedding attire. It’s also a great opportunity to meet your adventure elopement photographer and feel comfortable in front of their camera, which made this meet-up all the more exciting.
Y’all, I mean it when I say these two are probably some of the most fun, genuine, and kindest people I’ve met. Seriously. There was not a quiet or uneventful moment during their adventurous Breckenridge engagement session. I could honestly talk with these two for days on end and not get tired of it.
We wound up taking their adventure engagement photos by the most gorgeous little alpine lakes in Breckenridge. It’s the cutest little spot, tucked into the mountains down a dirt road on the site of a gorgeous mountain pass. You’ll miss it if you blink. From racing down the hiking trail to splashing around in a nearby creek, these two were game for everything. Mountain wildflowers were in full bloom during their adventure session, but if we’re being completely honest, these two were the real stars of the day. They made the mountains look better than they already do.
